5 Desert Discovery

Banjo: In book four, Desert Discovery, the family expands!

Vicki: Yes — this is the beginning of a broader travel arc. Mum and Dad are properly introduced, and the whole family sets off on an adventure starting from Perth.

Ian: They cross state borders and journey across the famous Nullarbor Plain — a vast and fascinating stretch of the country.

Vicki: Along the way, a road accident creates real tension and drama.

Ian: Thankfully, teamwork, calm communication and quick-thinking help resolve the crisis — with assistance from the iconic Flying Doctor.

Vicki: We also introduce more uniquely Australian characters — police officers, truck drivers and other helpers — all portrayed as native animals.

Ian: And no matter how serious the situation, there’s always room for warmth and humour.

Banjo: So adventure, iconic Aussie locations, teamwork, humour — and smiling quokkas leading the charge?

Vicki: That’s the idea.

Ian: We want children to feel proud of their country, confident in themselves, and excited about exploring the world around them.

Banjo: Sounds like the Quokka sQuad is just getting started. I’ll be watching those smiling faces closely!
